What a Spectacle!

As we learned in our vocabulary unit this week, a spectacle is a dramatic event, or something that attracts attention. On your quiz, you were asked to think about how you might dress to make a spectacle of yourself. While most of us hope to attract the attention of the person we like, it is important to make sure that you are getting the type of attention that you want. Below, I have listed my top five guidelines about dressing to impress:

1. Dress for the amount of respect you want. People are not going to treat you like the incredible, special person that you are if you are wearing a fanny pack or "ho hoops." Make sure you look that the kind of person who deserves to be treated well.

2. Your outfit should match the activity you are doing. I'm all for dressing up and wearing some great heels, but that is not the outfit for mini golf. You will make a better impression on someone by having a great time with them than if you keep complaining about your sore feet.

3. It is always better to be overdressed than underdressed. You don't need to rent a tuxedo to go watch a movie, but if you are unsure of what to wear, choose something nicer. Being the only person in the room in jeans and sneakers while everyone else is in dress clothes can severely lower your self-confidence. Dress to impress!

4. Go easy on the fragrance, make-up, and accessories. It is difficult to concentrate on how awesome a person is when he or she has used an entire bottle of body spray. People will enjoy talking to you more if they can see you under your make-up and jewelry. Remember, when asked about their favorite animals, almost no one says a skunk or raccoon!

5. Feel like a million bucks! No matter what the occasion or who you are with, remember that you are an amazing person. Your clothes are just another way to show that off. Wear something that makes you feel positive about yourself, and others will feel the same way about you, too.

Peter's Pick-up Line of the Week:
There are many girl fishes in the sea but you're the one I hooked!

Dating Question of the Week:
Q: What does it mean when you ask someone out and they "need to think about it"?

A: What's there to think about? This person is clearly not smart or cool enough to appreciate your awesomeness at this time. When they finally come to their senses, you will have moved on to someone a lot cuter!
